Strengthening cultural identity through educational programs: A study in the Awajún world

The present study addresses the qualities of educational programs within society, its main axis being the indigenous cultures of the jungle. Thus, the first chapter deals with its general aspects, its relationship with other dimensions of great impact on the lives of today's society. With this, the emergence of the innovative paradigm of quality education is generally touched upon, which is willing to include in it any proposal that is based on these current needs, in this case, the revaluation of indigenous wisdom, which at the same time points to a national identity. Likewise, the work of the educational manager will be addressed and the characteristics he has as a pedagogue and designer of these innovative programs and how he articulates them as educational projects that can have an impact on a single school or even on an entire educational system.
In the second chapter, the elementary notions regarding mythology are addressed, this element that configures a way of thinking, a worldview, whose presence in education has been constant since ancient times. The teaching of this cultural aspect has constituted particular characteristics of each town, something that has contributed to the formation of an identity to distinguish itself from other towns. In addition to this, reference is made to intercultural education, an educational program that collects these traditions and welcomes their respective peoples.
The third chapter addresses a detailed description of the particular and distinctive characteristics of the Awajún culture and its language. The recognition made to your community not only refers to this study, but also to the Peruvian State that a few years ago approved the teaching of bilingual education through a supreme decree. In that sense, this refers to this culture with Peruvian education.
The fourth chapter constitutes an applied investigation of the educational program “Preserving mythology” in the Awajún indigenous community. This brief study details a balance that shows the level that an educational project can reach in the preservation of historical and cultural memory in order to strengthen an identity. Finally, the fifth chapter deals with a set of final considerations corresponding to the complete document, where new topics are added and a critical perspective of the relationship of these native peoples with Peruvian society is humbly proposed.
