Self-built homes and their relationship with seismic vulnerability

Self-built homes, seismic vulnerabilitySynopsis
Currently, rapid urbanization has brought enormous challenges such as the growth in the number of inhabitants in vulnerable areas, it has even given rise to unplanned urban expansion, where the population lives in inadequate infrastructure, which makes cities more vulnerable to disasters; Therefore, its objective is to ensure that cities are more inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable by 2030. In this sense, it is relevant to point out that having a home is a fundamental right of human beings where they can carry out their daily activities such as sleeping, eating and resting, in a habitable place.
Peru is part of this 2030 Agenda, because most of the country is installed in homes that do not have adequate conditions or basic services, such as electricity, water and drainage. For this reason, the Peruvian government took measures to counteract the problem of precarious housing and the difficult access to acquire real estate, through the New Credit My Home and Techo Propio programs, which are aimed at the middle, middle and middle-income sectors. low and low.
According to various authors, approximately 80,000 homes were built through self-construction in Peru, but half of these constructions do not have any safety or quality in construction. These districts are located around the city of Lima, such as Puente de Piedra, Villa el Salvador, San Juan de Lurigancho, Carabayllo and Villa María del Triunfo.
These informal constructions or self-built homes are characterized by not having the security or observation of specialists, they are even built with low quality materials and their structural design is poorly prepared. Some of the causes of self-built homes are the unequal distribution of housing programs, high mortgage loans, informal employment, among others. This problem is explained in greater detail in this work and is based on scientific research that studies the level of seismic vulnerability of self-built homes.
