University social responsibility and professional training: Ethical strategies for higher education in the 21st century
Keywords:

This book establishes University Social Responsibility (USR) not as a paternalistic or peripheral endeavor, but as a model of ethical management and a cross-cutting pedagogical strategy that integrates holistic education, socially relevant research, and institutional governance. Through active methodologies such as Service-Learning and Participatory Action Research, the work demonstrates theoretically and empirically—via a non-parametric correlational study conducted at the National University of Santa—that students' active involvement in USR has a direct and highly significant relationship (Rho = 0.861) with the development of critical professional competencies such as ethical leadership, social empathy, collaborative work, and civic responsibility. Consequently, the text proposes methodological and curricular guidelines for higher education institutions to move beyond a purely commercial or technical approach, transforming social impact into the true standard of quality and educational relevance.
